THE LORDSHIP LIFESTYLE (DISCIPLESHIP)

The Lordship Lifestyle is not just some curriculum to be completed; it is a way of life.  It is more than just words on a page, or a religious litmus test.  The Lordship Lifestyle is a study designed to help anyone claiming to be a follower of Jesus Christ fully grasp what it means to be His disciple.  Jesus alone sets the standard for His followers.  “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” (Matthew 16:24, NKJV).  The purpose of this study is a call for followers of Jesus to submit every aspect of their lives to His lordship.  Designed for personal study or with a group of two or more, The Lordship Lifestyle will challenge you to live the life you were meant to live.

Why Discipleship?

The Lordship Lifestyle (Discipleship): Courses

INTRODUCTION - WHY DISCIPLESHIP

More than just a lifestyle, discipleship is a defined relationship that exists between two or more people.  Discipleship is the pouring of oneself into another.  Discipleship is the intentional recycling of truth passed on to others who will faithfully continue the process.  “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2, NKJV).

LESSON 1 - THE DISCIPLE'S GUIDE

The Bible is the written Word of God for humanity.  The Bible communicates what God wants people to know, believe, and to do.  For the disciple of Jesus, the Bible is the sole authority for his or her life. Knowing and living God’s Word is essential to the growth of the disciple.  The purpose of this lesson is to acquaint the disciple with the Bible and to establish the Bible as the sole authority of their lives.

LESSON 2 - THE AUTHENTIC DISCIPLE

Authentic Discipleship is about a relationship.  To be a Disciple of Jesus Christ implies that you have started a relationship with him. In this lesson, you will explore what it means to be saved, what it means to be a Disciple, and how this new relationship with Jesus will impact every area of your life.

LESSON 3 - THE DISCIPLE'S MANDATE

The final command of Jesus to His followers was to make disciples.  Jesus began making disciples, who made disciples, who made disciples. Two thousand years later, everyone who claims to be a disciple of Jesus Christ still carries the same mandate – Make disciples.  In this lesson, you will be encouraged and challenged to receive and carry out this mandate.

LESSON 4 - THE DISCIPLE'S RESPONSE

Central to following Jesus is knowing and obeying His commands. You cannot claim to be a disciple of Jesus and refuse to obey His commands.  What does it mean to live a Lordship Lifestyle? In this lesson, you will be challenged to understand and accept the call to live a life of obedience.  You will begin to recognize what it means to live a Lordship Lifestyle.

LESSON 5 - THE DISCIPLE'S DIRECTIVE

Jesus taught His followers what they should know, what they should believe, how they should act, and ultimately what their future mission would be as one of His disciples.  Jesus instructed His followers to ‘teach’ these new disciples to ‘obey all the commands I have given you.’  What are the commands of Christ?  In this lesson, you will study the specific commands of Jesus for His disciples and be challenged to live a life worthy of Him.

LESSON 6 - THE DISCIPLE'S CORE

To live a life marked by spiritual wisdom is the disciple of Jesus Christ's highest achievement.  The disciple who earnestly desires to grow in spiritual wisdom will be found living an honorable life. Every disciple, at his core, must choose to make life decisions based on spiritual wisdom.  In this lesson, you will be challenged to live a life marked by spiritual wisdom.

LESSON 7 - THE DISCIPLE'S FAITH

A disciple’s faith can stir the heart of God to act.  A.W. Tozer once said, “True faith rests upon the character of God and asks no further proof than the moral perfections of the One who cannot lie.  It is enough that God has said it.”  For the disciple of Jesus Christ, a deep-rooted faith begins and ends with a firm belief in who God is and what God says He will do. In this lesson, you will discover what faith is and what role it plays in the disciple’s life.

LESSON 8 - THE DISCIPLE'S HOPE

According to Paul, three things will last forever; faith, hope, and love. Having hope is familiar to everyone, but at the core of a disciple’s hope is the finished work of Jesus Christ.  For the disciple of Jesus Christ, faith, forgiveness, salvation, peace, security, direction, and even heaven find their anchor in the hope that God is trustworthy and faithful to His Word. For the disciple, hope in Jesus Christ is foundational to a life of faith.

LESSON 9 - THE DISCIPLE'S LOVE

God loved the world so much He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save it.  Jesus demonstrated His love for the world by paying the ultimate sacrifice to save it. Jesus has called His disciples to love one another in such a way so that the world would recognize His love and be saved by it.  Love defines the life of a disciple.  In this lesson, you will be challenged to live a life of love.

LESSON 10 - THE DISCIPLE'S LIFE

It matters how you live.  Everyone needs a Paul in their life – someone to follow, to learn from, to be encouraged by, and to be challenged.  ~AND~ Everyone needs a Timothy in their life – someone to lead, to teach, to challenge. The question is, “Are you worth following?”  In this lesson, you will be challenged to live a life worthy of the Lord, to find a Paul to follow, and to find a Timothy to lead.
